Karuppu, headlined by Suriya, emerged as the actor’s career-biggest grosser with over Rs. 260 crores. This RJ Balaji directorial grossed more than double that of Suriya’s previous highest grosser, Singham 2 (Rs. 125 crores).

The film is also a smash hit in overseas markets, minting $7 million (equivalent to around Rs. 66 crores) so far. Suriya’s film has earned handsome profits for all the parties involved, a positive sign for the industry.

Produced by Dream Warrior Pictures, the film stars Trisha Krishnan, RJ Balaji, Indrans, Natty Subramaniam, Swasika, Anagha Maaya, and others in key roles. Sai Abyankkar composed the music.
