Preity Mukhundhan is currently on a roll in South cinema. With back-to-back hits like Blast and Idhayam Murali, buzz is already high for her next Telugu release, Emo Emo Idi, which locked its October 30, 2026, date. Adding to the excitement, her new Tamil film Anbil Avan, opposite Ashok Selvan, arrives in theaters this Friday.
At the Anbil Avan pre-release event, director Ashwath Marimuthu shared a surprising behind-the-scenes secret. He revealed that he had originally offered Preity the female lead in his film Dragon. However, she turned it down, and the character was later played by Kayadu Lohar.
Ashwath made it clear that there were no hard feelings over her decision. He recalled meeting her later and telling her that an even bigger project was on the way. That film turned out to be Anbil Avan, a script he read and loved for the prominent role it offers her.
This is not the first time Preity Mukhundhan has had to make tough career choices. She previously had to decline a role in Atlee’s big-ticket Allu Arjun film Raaka due to packed dates for Idhayam Murali. Missing out on two massive films only proves how sought-after she has quickly become.
