Team India has won the 2026 T20 World Cup! Playing in front of a massive home crowd at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, India defeated New Zealand by a huge 96 runs in the final match.

A Record-Breaking Batting Performance

New Zealand won the toss and opted to bowl first, but the Indian batters completely took over the game. They scored a massive 255 runs for 5 wickets in their 20 overs. This set a new record for the highest total ever posted in a T20 World Cup final.

Openers Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma hit boundaries all around the ground. Samson scored 89 runs off just 46 balls. Abhishek Sharma reached his half-century in only 18 balls, making it the fastest fifty of the tournament. In the middle overs, Ishan Kishan kept up the momentum with 54 runs off 25 balls, and Shivam Dube finished the innings with some quick runs.

Bowlers Shut Down New Zealand

Facing a tough target of 256, New Zealand struggled right from the start. The Indian bowlers gave them no chance to build momentum. Star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah bowled a magical spell, taking 4 wickets while giving up only 13 runs. Spinner Axar Patel also did serious damage, taking 3 wickets.

New Zealand were bowled out for just 159 runs in 19 overs. Only their captain, Mitchell Santner (43 runs), and Tim Seifert (52 runs) managed to score well.

Joining the Greats

With this massive victory, Suryakumar Yadav joins an elite list of Indian World Cup-winning captains that includes MS Dhoni, Kapil Dev, and Rohit Sharma. This marks the third time India has won the T20 World Cup overall.

T20 World Cup 2026 Final – A Historic Night for Indian Cricket

Over one lakh fans cheered from the stands as India made cricket history. With this win, India became the first team ever to win back-to-back T20 World Cups. They also became the first host nation to win the tournament on their home ground. Thanks to brilliant batting, bowling, and fielding, it is a day Indian cricket fans will remember forever.

February 2026 Tollywood Box Office Vishnu Vinyasam Couple Friendly Funky

Box Office February 2026

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Out of 10 movies released in February, not a single film became a clean commercial hit at the Tollywood box office.
  • Major releases like Vishwak Sen’s Funky and Suhas’ Hey Balwanth failed, while Santosh Shoban’s Couple Friendly managed a decent recovery.
  • Theater owners faced severe financial losses and had to rely on old movie re-releases, with the industry’s current hopes resting on the weekend performance of Sree Vishnu’s Vishnu Vinyasam.
A Month Without Magic

Tollywood faced a very rough month this February. After a festive and busy Sankranti season in January, the box office completely cooled down. Out of 10 new movies released in theaters over the past month, not a single one managed to become a clean hit, leaving the film trade industry highly disappointed.

Box Office February 2026 – The Hits and Misses

Looking at the month’s releases, only Santosh Shoban’s Couple Friendly managed to survive. The movie received positive word-of-mouth from audiences. While it did not pull in massive collections, it recovered enough money to be considered safe commercially.

On the other hand, movies that came with good expectations crashed. Gunasekhar’s Euphoria and Vishwak Sen’s Funky failed to attract audiences due to below-par content. Actor Suhas, who has been doing back-to-back films, also faced a bitter result with Hey Balwanth. The movie failed to get even an average response from the audience, proving that a solid commercial success is very much out of its reach.

Five other movies that were released went without a trace. Films like Shiva Kandukuri’s Nawab Cafe, Sai Simhadri’s Son Of, along with Seetha Payanam, With Love, and Sri Chidambaram Garu, had zero buzz and left theaters after their first weekend.

The Changing Audience

This poor performance shows a big shift in the mindset of audiences in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. After spending money on big theatrical experiences during the Sankranti festival, people are skipping regular movies. They are choosing to wait for digital releases on OTT platforms instead, and are only showing interest in event films.

Because of the lack of footfalls, theater exhibitors in the Nizam and Andhra regions faced huge losses this month, struggling to even pay their electricity bills. To make money, local distributors had to rely heavily on classic movie re-releases like Ram Charan’s Orange, Mahesh Babu’s Athadu, and Naga Chaitanya’s Ye Maaya Chesave.

Looking Ahead

Now, the industry is resting its final hopes on Sree Vishnu’s movie, Vishnu Vinyasam, which released yesterday, February 27. While makers hoped his signature comedy would pull crowds, the movie opened to a mixed response. Day one collections were only average. The film’s final success relies entirely on how it can make the most of this Saturday and Sunday.

Trade experts are now looking forward to the March and April lineups to bring audiences back to theaters. Hopes are pinned high on Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, Toxic, Ustaad Bhagat Singh, Peddi, Dacoit, and a few other films to revive the exhibition sector.

India beat Pakistan by 61 runs in a T20 World Cup match on Sunday at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. With this win, India became the first team to move to the Super 8 stage.

Pakistan’s captain, Salman Ali Agha, won the toss and chose to bowl first. At first, it looked like a good choice because India lost Abhishek Sharma for a duck in the first over. But then, Ishan Kishan played very well. He scored 77 runs from only 40 balls. With help from Tilak Varma and captain Suryakumar Yadav, India finished with a strong score of 175 for 7. Pakistan tried something unusual by using spin bowlers for 18 overs. Saim Ayub took three wickets.

When Pakistan tried to chase the score, they struggled immediately. Indian fast bowlers Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah took early wickets. Pakistan was soon reduced to 34 for 4. Usman Khan tried to fight back by scoring 44 runs, but the Indian bowling attack was too strong. Pakistan was all out for 114 runs in 18 overs. Pandya, Bumrah, Axar Patel, and Varun Chakaravarthy each took two wickets. The match was so one-sided that the head of Pakistan’s cricket board left the stadium early. After the game, Suryakumar Yadav proudly said, “This is for India.”

India has a very good record against Pakistan in World Cups. As the defending champions, India have already beaten the USA and Namibia in this tournament. They are now at the top of Group A with six points.

India will play their last group match against the Netherlands on Wednesday in Ahmedabad. Pakistan are now in third place and must win their next game to stay in the tournament.
