Kollywood actor Arya’s Sarpatta Parambarai, directed by Pa. Ranjith, became a smash hit during the second COVID-19 lockdown. Released directly on Amazon Prime Video, the film impressed audiences with its gripping storyline, powerful performances, and authentic portrayal of North Chennai’s boxing culture.

Last year, the makers officially announced Sarpatta 2, giving fans a major reason to celebrate. The latest update reveals that the second installment of the much-loved sports drama isn’t a sequel but a prequel. The same was confirmed by the film’s leading lady, Dushara Vijayan.

In an interview, the actress said, “Sarpatta 2 shooting begins this month. I’m very excited. This one is going to be a prequel to the story, so even I’m looking forward to seeing how it’s going to shape up. Mariyamma is coming back. Sarpatta Part 1 was released on OTT due to COVID, but this one is going to have a proper theatrical release.”

Kiran Abbavaram’s Chennai Love Story has posted an impressive jump at the box office on Saturday, giving the makers a reason to celebrate.

The film witnessed good occupancy across several centres, and trade circles believe the romantic drama has benefited from the underwhelming response to Srinivasa Mangapuram, which opened to mixed reviews.
