Marvel’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day opened in theatres today amid tremendous hype across India. The film registered phenomenal advance bookings, with ticket sales touching over 40,000 per hour at one point yesterday, underlining the massive craze for the iconic superhero.

The Marvel biggie has also generated an excellent response for its Telugu dubbed version, making it one of the biggest attractions at the box office this weekend. With audiences prioritising Spider-Man, the spotlight has now shifted to the Telugu releases arriving alongside it.

A few Telugu films have hit the screens this extended weekend, while Chennai Love Story continues its theatrical run with decent occupancy. However, these movies face a tough challenge as Spider-Man is expected to dominate footfalls across multiplexes and urban centres.

That said, the box office remains unpredictable. If any of the Telugu releases receive strong word of mouth from audiences, they could still emerge as surprise performers despite the stiff competition from the Marvel blockbuster.

It will be interesting to see whether Spider-Man: Brand New Day continues its dominant run through the weekend or if one of the Telugu releases manages to hold its own at the box office.

The film also stars Mohan Babu in a key negative role, alongside Shaam, Brahmaji, and Naresh Vijay Krishna in important roles.

Produced by P Kiran under the Chandamama Kathalu banner, Srinivasa Mangapuram has music composed by GV Prakash Kumar. It remains to be seen how the film performs at the box office.
