DJ has become a roaring hit at the box office and is now streaming on AHA. On this occasion, we caught up with heroine Neha Shetty for an exclusive interview. Here is the transcript.
About response to DJ Tillu?
As I played a very edgy character of Radhika, I was tense about whether the audience would accept me in such a role. To my happiness, I got a tremendous response as the audience accepted and appreciated my performance in the film.
About the trolls, you received for your role in DJ Tillu?
The harsh truth is that we cannot impress everyone. There will be someone who will not like what we do and had issues with Radhika’s character. But I am okay as a majority of the audience loved me in DJ Tillu.
What was the biggest fear while portraying Radhika?
My character was quite edgy and even if I skipped a beat, my character would have looked vulgar. But luckily that did not happen as I played it with sincerity and self-belief even though I did not relate to the character personally.
The film is now out on AHA. How do you feel?
Due to the Covid scare, a number of audiences did not get to see the film. Now that it has been released on AHA, there is very good buzz once again. The response has been lovely and so many are watching our film once again. It makes me feel so content.
Are you interested in OTT projects?
Why not. OTT is the way ahead and I would love to do OTT projects along with films. Some of the biggest stars are doing it now and if I get a meaty part, I will surely take it up.
About Siddhu Jonnalagadda?
We have been close friends even before the film happened. DJ Tillu has been his baby as he has also co-written it. Siddhu had worked so hard on this project and am very happy that his hard work has paid off. Our combo was also loved by the audience which makes me happier.
What’s the update on Dj Tilly part 2?
The scripting is happening and I cannot wait to get on to the sequel. But it is very early to talk about it as Siddhu is busy with other films of his.
What kind of films did you want to do in Telugu?
I am open to all sorts of roles. Be it glamor or performance-oriented, I am game for new challenges. There are a number of good directors in Telugu who are making solid content and I am waiting for the right script to pounce upon.
