Music director Anup Rubens, has become the talk of Tollwyood in recent times. His music has become a rage, and with Puri Jagan’s Heart Attack, Anup has joined the big league of music directors in Telugu. We caught up with this talented musician for an detailed interview. Let’s see what he has to say.

Q) How did you get the offer to compose music for Heart Attack ?

A) Puri Jagan knew me from the days I was a key board player. Initially, he offered me to compose music for some of his films. As I was very nervous and did not have any experience, I politely rejected him. But now, after a long time when he offered me Heart Attack, I jumped on to the offer.

Q)How was it working with Puri Jagan ?

A) It was an awesome experience and felt like a joy ride. Puri sir is so chilled out, and has a lot of clarity about the kind of music he wants for his film.

Q)Puri Jagan is known as a speed master. How long did it take to compose the songs ?

A) The music sittings happened in Bangkok, and it took us just five days to compose five songs. The last song ‘Tu Hi Hai’ took a bit of time as we were contemplating on different tunes.

Q)Have your tunes ever been rejected. How do you cope up in such situations?

A) Yes ! There were many tunes which have been rejected. In those situations, I create new tunes and try to impress the directors. Some of the songs in Gunde Jaari Gallantayyinde and Lovely are the ones which I composed a long time ago.

Q) How do you go about composing your music.?

A) First of all, I keep the situation in mind and then think about the hero’s image and make my songs.

Q) Which is more easier, scoring music or doing the background score?

A) Obviously, scoring background score is more challenging. One needs to have experience to elevate the story.

Q) How is your family responding to your success ?

A) They are very happy and respond to my music on a very critical basis. If they like my songs they will appreciate it, but at the same time they don’t shy away from criticizing what they dislike.

Q) What are your forthcoming projects ?

A) Two of my films, Beemavaram Bullodu and Auto Nagar Surya are ready for release. I am doing the Tamil remake of Ishq, and Naga Chaitanya’s next with Vijay Kumar.
