Tamil hero Arya is ready with his new film Captain. The film is being dubbed in Telugu and on this occasion, we met with him for a detailed interview. Here is the transcript.
What made you okay Captain in the first place?
I had already done a film called Teddy with Shakthi Sounderajan before. When he came up with this script which was a bit tricky, I knew Shakthi would handle the subject well. As I had also believed he would handle the VFX part well, I okayed the film.
What is Captain all about?
Captain is set in the army backdrop. Generally, when it comes to army films, the enemy would be either Pakistan or terrorists. But here in our film, it is a special creature that is causing trouble. How we handle this tricky situation is what the whole film is all about.
How did you prep for this role?
As the enemy was a VFX-made creature, it was quite challenging for me. Getting back in shape was also difficult. The VFX part was also difficult as it took time and we had to do a lot of pre-production and this was time taking.
Why are you mostly doing experimental films in the last few years?
If not now then when I feel. This is the right time to experiment and the makers are also coming to me with such subjects and feel that I will be ready to take risks. As I am also producing a few of my films, more directors are coming to me.
About the Telugu presenters of Captain?
Shresth Movies is releasing the film in Telugu. Nithin has been a very close friend for a long time now. The manner in which they promoted Vikram was there for us all to see. So, I felt they would be the best people for the Telugu release.
Future Projects?
I have wrapped up a crazy web series in a village backdrop for Amazon. Then, I am also doing a film with Muttaih. When it comes to Telugu, I am ready to do a film here and am waiting for the right opportunity.
