Rowdy Boys is up for a release tomorrow and on this occasion, we caught up with hero Ashish Reddy and producer Dil Raju for a detailed interview. Here is the transcript.
What aspired you to become an actor?
Ashish Reddy- Right from my childhood onwards, I was fascinated by dance and Allu Arjun. I have always wanted to become an actor and here I am making my debut as an actor and living my dream.
What kind of preparation went into making your debut?
I was quite chubby and toned down first. Then, I revealed the desire to my family. I trained hard and went to New York and did theater. In Mumbai, I went to Barry Johan acting school and also worked as an AD for the film Kerintha.
What kind of launch did you plan for Ashish?
Dil Raju – I always believed that content is the king. So, I wanted to launch him with a young director and not with a star director. I clearly told Ashu to work hard and told him the day he is ready, I will launch the film.
What kind of preparation went into the making of this film?
Ashish Reddy – We did a lot of workshops for this film. Right from the day I heard the story, I was traveling with the director. As we believed in a lot of homework, I had planned things in a proper manner. I had scene papers beforehand and made sure I went on the sets well prepared.
What kind of a film did you want to launch Ashish with?
Ashish Reddy – It has been quite some time since we have seen college dramas in Telugu. Even though Asish is a new hero, I am very calculative as a producer. So, I wanted a film that will allow Ashu to showcase his fights, dances, romances, and performance. So, Rowdy Boys is a perfect film for Ashu.
What kind of suggestions did you give to Ashish Reddy?
Dil Raju – As it is his first film, I made sure he got the perfect setup. His dad, Sirish wanted a big director but I was against it. I want Ashish to grow on his own and told the same. Once he will do more films, Ashish will anyways not listen to him and will take his own call. For now, I have guided him.
What kind of films do you want to do in the future?
Ashish Reddy – As of now, I have given my heart and soul to this film. I am waiting for the reactions of the audience and will choose projects depending on the outcome of this film
Finally, what kind of a spark did you observe in Ashish?
Dil Raju – He was quite chubby and I told him to lose weight and be serious about his career. From that day, he spent the next three years quite sincerely and has done a lot of hard work for his debut film. So, he has in him to become a big star in the future.
