Karthikeya 2 is up for a release soon and on this occasion, we caught up with director Chandoo Mondeti for a brief interview. Here is the transcript.
About the delay?
Things are not in our hands. The film has been getting delayed time and again but the audience did not lose interest. Whatever promotional material has come out received only positive response. In that way, this film is quite special.
About the idea about the sequel?
I have always been interested in suspense thrillers. The mythological effect and how we weave a story out of it, has triggered the basic idea for this film. I had this idea from 2015 and here we are with the release.
Difference between part one and two?
All those who did not see the first part will not get any confusion. Both the films are different and only the hero’s character is derived from the first part. This film is an adventure thriller about the journey of a man from Hyderabad to find something special.
When there is no connection, why didn’t you make this film with another star?
Nikhil is a very close friend and he is the face of Karthikeya series. This film created a good hype only because of the sequel connection. Once you see the film, Nikhil has done solid justice to the film.
About Anupam Kher?
The moment he enters the frame, the film is set in Kashmir. So, we wanted an actor like Anupam Kher. He has done a solid job with the film and will bring a lot of depth to the proceedings.
Future Projects?
I have a project lined up in Geetha Arts. The story is ready and will go on floors soon. Apart from this, I have one more story ready which I will do with a noted star.
