Krishnam Raju, one of the legendary actors in the country celebrates his birthday tomorrow. On this occasion, we caught up with him for a detailed interview. Here is the transcript.
You have completed 50 years in the industry. Any plans to celebrate it?
Yes! I have some plans in mind and will execute them very soon. I have had a loyal fan base from the past thirty to forty years and I want to felicitate some key fan members by throwing a grand function. Apart from this, there will be a special celebrity event marking the 50 years of my film journey.
Why are you doing such less work these days?
Firstly, I want to clear a rumor that I am not interested to act anymore. I am very much willing to act in movies but the only condition is that the roles that come to me should have some depth. Even if it is a small role like the one in Yevade Subramanyam, there should be some depth in it. I am looking out for interesting characters and am game for negative roles as well.
What about your political future?
I have been in active politics for the past few years and will continue to do so. As everyone knows that I am all for BJP, my services to the party will continue under the leadership of Modi Ji.
What about the film with Prabhas in your home banner?
The project is definitely on and will kick start once Saaho wraps up its shoot. Mostly, it will be starting post-summer. The script work is currently on and Radha Krishna is taking care of it.
What do you have to say about Prabhas’s marriage?
I personally don’t want to talk about this topic but as everyone is asking me, I can only say that marriage is definitely on Prabhas’s mind and he himself will be able to take a decision when it will happen.
Stars like Pawan Kalyan, Rajinikanth, and Kamal Haasan have entered politics. What do you have to say about this?
I don’t have anything to say about it. Everyone has their own choice and is welcome to the world of politics.
What do you have to say about the current state of films in Tollywood?
Tollywood has gone to a global level thanks to Baahubali. We as Telugu people should be proud of the fact that people from Hollywood are talking about our films. From the past few years, things are changing drastically and it is a great time to be in movies.
