Natural star, Nani has been going great guns in his career with back to back hits. Now, he is back with a love story co-starring Nivetha Thomas and Aadi Pinishetty. On the occasion of the film’s release, we caught up with Nani for a detailed interview. Let’s see what Nani has to say.
What attracted you towards Ninnu Kori?
I said yes to the film even before the director finished his narration. Of late, I feel that things have become quite commercial and basic emotions are being pushed away. In such a scenario, Shiva came up with a beautiful script which had importance for every character and their emotions. Moreover, the romantic thread of finding love post your break up impressed me big time.
Working with a debutante director?
The way director Shiva narrated the script was quite honest. He narrated the film without adding any sugar coating which all directors do while narrating their stories. He is a very focused person and we collaborated big time during the making as so much was improvised during the shoots. Filmmaking is a collective effort and any changes that I make should be completely approved by all my team members.
About Nivetha’s performance?
Once the film was okayed, we had many options in mind but we felt that we need an actress who will completely own the proceedings with her acting performance which will be the key. Nivetha was the only option and she has given a stunning performance which will stand out in the film.
Don’t you think you are doing way too many love stories?
See, you need to understand that most of the Telugu films have love stories embedded inside. It is only the set up that changes and same is the case with my film too. But the emotions are real and I have never done an out and out love story like Ninnu Kori to date.
When compared to your previous films, you look quite trendy?
The credit should go to Neeraja Kona who has done costumes for our film. As the film is based in the US, I had to up my style a bit which is being appreciated all over.
Working with Aadi?
Once I and Nivetha were on, we were looking for the third character and right away, everyone suggested Aadi’s name unanimously. Working with him was so much fun. You will see him in a completely new angle and he will surprise everyone with his solid performance.
Music is a huge hit. Tell us about that?
Gopi Sundar has done a superb job with the music. The moment I heard the Adigya song, I told my unit that we need to release the song even before the teaser and entire audio. As expected, the song has become a rage and same is the case with the rest of the audio as well. Music is the soul of Ninnu Kori and will drive the film till the end.
Will Ninnu Kori continue your winning streak?
What can I say about that?. I pray and wish that it continues and never stops. But I too am human and there will some day where all this will stop and the media will start ripping me apart. Nothing is permanent in this industry and I am prepared for everything.
How has the life changed after the birth of your son?
Things have been going good so far. As of now, it is Arjun(Nani’s son’s name) and my career which I am focusing on completely. As soon as I wrap up the shoot, I rush back home to play with him.
As of now, I am shooting for Dil Raju’s MCA. Then, I have a film with Merlapaka Gandi which will be yet another hilarious project. Post these two films, I will work with Hanu Raghavapudi once again.
