Interview : Parasuram Petla – Cinema is always a responsibility for me

Superstar Mahesh Babu’s Sarkaru Vaari Paata is doing extremely well at the box office worldwide. The movie became a blockbuster. On this occasion, we met with the filmmaker Parasuram Petla. Here is the transcript.

 

How are you enjoying the success of SVP?
From the inception of this story, I wanted this film to be a big hit in Mahesh Babu’s career. So, I designed his looks, mannerisms and character according to the story. As expected, the movie became a blockbuster Everyone is saying that they have seen a new Mahesh in this film.

 

What is Mahesh Babu’s response after the success?
I am so happy as the film turned out to be a grand success. Mahesh Babu called me on the release day and said, “Congratulations! The movie has been receiving blockbuster reports from everywhere.” He knew how much I worked hard for this flick.

 

Any special calls from industry people?
Directors Sukumar, Puri Jagannadh and Harish Shankar called me and congratulated me on the film’s success. Sukumar said, “I can’t treat this kind of heavy story in a lighter vein and that too in an entertaining way.” Many fans also thanked me for presenting their hero in a new avatar.

 

Don’t you feel anything for saying this story in a lighter vein?
Everyone has their style and I always like to say an important point in an entertaining manner. This worked in Sarkaru Vaari Paata and that’s many people are watching it again.

 

Which aspect does Mahesh like in you?
Mahesh Babu said many times that he likes my style of writing. We both connected very well. The depth of a scene comes naturally when the story demands it.

 

How are you dealing with the comment that you ignored the story in SVP?
If the story is not strong, no star hero will accept it to do. Coming to Sarkaru Vaari Paata, the point is completely new to audiences and that’s why Mahesh Babu also gave his nod. Common audiences also connected well to the point. I met many famous personalities including the Ex-Governor of the Reserve Bank Of India, before narrating the story to Mahesh Babu.

 

Any reason behind designing the heroine’s character differently?
Keerthy Suresh’s character is so important in this film and she drives the story. And I designed her character just like how I did in my other films. However, Kalaavathi’s behaviour is quite different in this movie.

 

What’s your feeling after Mahesh danced on stage?
I was totally surprised. He danced for the first time on stage. This is a clear example to explain how happy Mahesh Babu is with the grand success of the film.

 

How is your life before and after working with a star actor?
Cinema is always a responsibility for me. Hero gives his date and the producer pours in money as they believe us completely. However, the story needs to reach the majority of people. So, we need to expand our visual and writing span. It’s my responsibility as a director.

 

Will you work with star actors only?
Nothing like that. The story is more important than the actor. I need to concentrate on the story first. I have a few stories and need to do a workout on them.

 

Future projects?
My next is with Naga Chaitanya under the 14 Reels Plus banner. Script work is over and I will announce other details soon.
