Young and promising actor Sree Vishnu starrer Samajavaragamana was released last week and is performing very well in theaters. On this occasion, we had a brief interview with the film’s producer, Anil Sunkara. Here is the transcript.
Did you anticipate the success of Samajavaragamana?
Yes! I believed that the film would fare well at the box office. It has a wonderful script, and I need to thank Sundeep Kishan for recommending it to me. Everything went according to plan for this film. Moreover, Sree Vishnu’s exceptional performance became an advantage for the film. If I were to make this kind of film again, Sree Vishnu would be my choice. Naresh garu also delivered a fantastic performance in his hilarious character. We felt that only he could do justice to the role, so we waited for his availability for two months.
Did the early screenings help the film?
Our decision to have early screenings before the release date turned out to be a significant boost to the film’s success. We organised a total of 20 premiere shows in Nizam, and we earned a share of Rs. 10 lakhs. To be frank, the premieres greatly enhanced our confidence in the film.
Tell us about Bholaa Shankar
Bholaa Shankar is also a family story. The script is perfectly suited for Chiranjeevi garu. The chemistry between him and Keerthy Suresh will be remarkable, and we have complete confidence in the film’s success. Bholaa Shankar is scheduled for release on August 11, 2023.
What was your experience working with Chiranjeevi garu?
Working with a talented actor like Chiranjeevi garu was a wonderful experience. There was no sense of tension; instead, I felt relief while working with him. I thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with him.
What prompted you to tweet about the failure of Agent?
Everyone shares the responsibility for the box office failure of Agent. Due to certain issues, we didn’t start shooting with a bound script. There is no one to blame; it was a collective decision. Surender Reddy and I had intended to take Akhil’s career to the next level, but the outcome was different. I take responsibility for the film’s result.
Future projects
We have Ooru Peru Bhairavakona with Sundeep Kishan, Hidimba with Ashwin, and Bholaa Shankar with Chiranjeevi garu, all set for release. I am also planning to collaborate again with the team of Samajavaragamana. Additionally, we have plans to remake Samajavaragamana in Tamil. I will share more details later.
