On the eve of Inttelligent’s release, we caught with Sai Dharam Tej for a detailed interview. Here is the transcript.
How tense are you feeling about the film’s release?
I am not tensed at all and am very confident that the audience will love the film. For the first time in my career, I have done an out and out mass film and am eagerly awaiting to see the audience reaction.
About your role?
I play a software engineer who always stays in his comfort zone and does not risk anything. What happens when a person like him faces problems and how intelligently he comes out is the story of the film all about.
Working with Vinayak?
Firstly, I need to thank Vinyak garu to give me a chance to work in his film. I have given four flops in a row and he is coming in after a huge blockbuster like Khaidi150. He could have worked with any bigger star but he chose me which is an honor. Working with Vinayak garu is quite peaceful. He narrates everything with a smile and the atmosphere on the set is quite cool and allows actors like us to concentrate on our work.
What did you think went wrong with your recent films?
The narration and the way things were showcased did not go well with the audience. For example, I loved the story of Jawaan a lot but sadly things did not work out.
Why are you only doing commercial entertainers?
I am only choosing the best from what I get. Firstly, I need to get chances to try something new. Sadly, everyone is approaching me with mass films. Things will change soon as I am doing a love story next in the direction of Karunakaran.
Clash with your brother Varun?
The clash is inevitable. We discussed a lot but as both our producers had problems with the release, we had no other choice. I feel that both the films coming on the same day should score a hit and give a double treat to the audience.
A word about Balakrishna and Prabhas who promoted your film?
Firstly, I need to thank Balakrishna garu and Prabhas anna for releasing our teaser and audio. Mainly, I need to thank Balakrishna garu who came all the way irrespective of his stardom and fan war and supported the film. Our younger generation should learn from an actor like him.
No one from the mega family came to Intteligent events. Why is that so?
Frankly, one cannot expect to keep coming in for every function of mine. Not that they do not support me but everybody is busy in their own works and if there is anything that I need, they will be the first ones I will ask help from.
