Kushi, starring Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha in the lead roles, is scheduled for a grand release this Friday. Directed by Shiva Nirvana, the film is produced by Mythri Movie Makers. Hesham Abdul Wahab provided the music. Ahead of the release, we had a brief interaction with Shiva Nirvana, and here is the transcript.
Are you feeling nervous?
We saw the first copy yesterday, and our entire team is very pleased with the output of Kushi. I am in a relaxed state. Vijay saw the first copy, and he is extremely satisfied with the way the film has shaped.
People are saying Kushi has shades of Sakhi. What’s your reaction to it?
Yeah, I heard about those comparisons. I narrated this story to Vijay Garu during the time of Dear Comrade. Then, he was busy with Liger, during which I planned to do something out of the box. But Vijay liked this story very much. As many films have come on the love concept, I must tell a unique point. Kushi deals with a sensitive point, and we haven’t shown it in the trailer.
What is the reason for doing a musical concert and not a pre-release event?
Vijay and I had a discussion about this, and we wanted to do something different. As songs have become huge chartbusters, we thought of conducting a musical concert by calling media from various industries. It was Vijay who suggested the musical concert.
You have penned the lyrics for the songs. Tell us about it.
This is not the first time I have done this. In fact, I penned the lyrics for a few songs in my previous films, Ninnu Kori, Majili, and Tuck Jagadish. As Hesham is new to our Telugu cinema, I was guiding him, and that’s how I ended up writing the lyrics for Na Roja Nuvve song and other songs as well.
Could you tell us about Vijay’s character?
You will witness stylish comedy timing from Vijay through Kushi. Families and girls will love Vijay Deverakonda in Kushi. There isn’t any vulgarity. Family audiences will own Vijay, and this will be a memorable film like Geetha Govindam for him.
Could you tell us about Samantha’s character?
It’s been a while since Samantha Garu acted in a love story. She is working on projects like The Family Man, which had action. You will be surprised to watch Samantha at her absolute best. You will witness vintage Samantha in Kushi.
What are your future projects?
My entire concentration is on Kushi currently, and I will talk about my future projects at the right time.
