Interview : Sudheer Babu- Producing films was always on my mind

Post the success of Sammohanam, Sudheer Babu is back with a new film called Nannu Dochukunduvate. What’s more interesting is that he is also producing this film which will release tomorrow. On the eve of the film’s release, we caught up with him for a detailed interview.

What made you produce a film?

In the past, when I was struggling as an actor, I face faced several rejections. That was the time I made up my mind that I will give scope to newcomers who come up with interesting scripts when I become successful in my career. Also, some of my films were not made and promoted well because of the producer’s lack of interest. Such incidents like these made me create my own banner and make films on my own.

Tell us about your working experience as a producer?

Many do not know that I invested some money in my debut film also. So, I have a certain knowledge about production. As I have done eight films now, things became a bit easy for me. Producer’s job is very risky as there is a lot of money involved. One should lead from the front and I did the same for this film. I never got bogged down and made the film in a right spirit.

Tell us about your role in the film?

I play an emotional less boss in the film who falls in love with a girl. How he changes his mindset over a period of time and what problems does he face in all this is the story of the film. The way my role has been derived with interesting narration is the highlight of the film.

A word about Nabha Natesh?

She is a very key factor in the film. The day we signed her, I told Nabha that the film’s success will be depending on her performance. She is a live wire and will go a long way in her career as she has done a superb job in the film.

What made you back out from Septemeber 13th release?

I was the first one who fixed my film’s date to September 13th. As both Sam and Chay were coming on the same date, I decided to back out for them as it is a very rare feat that both husband and wife fight it out at the box office. Also, we found 21st to be quite a clear release for our film as we got time to promote it as well.

How happy are you with the film’s outcome?

Many do not know that I have not earned much in my career. Half of my films I have done for free or for very less remuneration. With this film, I am financially very safe and am eagerly looking forward to the film’s success.

Are you producing any of your future projects?

As of now, my concentration is mostly on films from other banners. I will soon start working for Pullela Gopichand biopic which will be directed by Praveen Sattaru. Apart from this, my banner will be continuously making films in the future as well and I wish my sons will also continue this banner when I am old.
