Prime Video is set to entertain Telugu audiences with ‘The Traitors Telugu’. The globally popular reality format is being brought to Telugu viewers with unique local elements. Superhero Teja Sajja is hosting the show, which features 20 celebrities from different walks of life. Spanning 10 episodes, the series takes the contestants into a world where trust can become a danger. Who should they trust? Whom should they suspect? Who are the Traitors? The game revolves around these questions.
Produced by SOL Production, ‘The Traitors Telugu’ will stream exclusively on Prime Video in Telugu with English subtitles. A new episode will be released every Thursday at 12 PM starting October 15. On this occasion, Teja Sajja spoke to the media and shared several interesting details about the show. Here’s the transcript.
You are delivering hits consistently. How was it hosting The Traitors Telugu?
The Traitors is a massive franchise that is popular in 25 countries and across 25 languages. I didn’t know much about it when Karan Johar Garu hosted it in Hindi. I started watching it and finished the entire season in two days. I liked the concept and the show. After wrapping Mirai, Amazon Prime Video approached me. This is the first project I okayed in such a short time in my career. No reality show in Telugu has been made on such a big scale. It will give you the feel of watching a murder mystery. I thoroughly enjoyed working on it.
How many days did you shoot for the show?
We shot for 11 days. There will be 10 episodes in total. I didn’t feel an emotional connection with the participants in Hindi since I didn’t know them. But here, I know Pragathi Garu, Harshavardhan Garu, Chinmayee Garu, and others too. The host is very vital to this show. It will be like a character in a film. It’s like being a class leader.
Will people be able to understand it?
Initially, three episodes will be released. After watching them, people will get clarity on what The Traitors is all about. It will be like a murder mystery. It is in no way similar to any reality show in Telugu. The format is completely new. It will be like a real game. Just like how chess and football have a set of rules, The Traitors will have its own rules.
How was the experience?
Since I like the concept, I thoroughly enjoyed working on it. I speak without any inhibitions, and hence I believed I could pull it off. On the first day, they gave me five papers and asked me to explain the rules to the contestants. I thought it would be easy, but it had to be done in a single take. At no point should it go wrong. There will be cuts if it’s shot in a studio, but here, the participants will be present right in front of me.
Can children watch The Traitors?
Right from a 7-year-old, this show appeals to everyone. It has the potential to be liked by one and all. The Traitors has a huge fan following among children worldwide.
