Published on Feb 1, 2021 4:00 pm IST

Zombie Reddy is gearing up for a big release on the 5th of February and promotions are in full swing. On this occasion, we caught up with hero Teja Sajja for a detailed interview. Here is the transcript.

How did you get this opportunity?

‘Oh Baby’ was my debut film but there were bigger stars than me in that project. Zombie Reddy is a proper launch film for me as it has everything that a hero looks forward to making his film debut. Prashanth Varma was supposed to do a big film with a star hero but that did not work out. Then, he came up with this idea and spoke to me about it, and here we are ready with the release.

Tell us about the making of this film?

We started this film as a serious subject but as the lockdown happened, things changed and we made it more audience-friendly with a lot of comedy. Our film is a hilarious comedy with a lot of satire and will be a treat for the masses and general audience.

Working with Prashanth Varma?

Not many know that Prashanth Varma is a very close friend of mine. He exactly knows what my strengths are and showcased me in the best possible manner. He did not add any element to elevate me or highlight my image. Whatever he felt right as a director, he did for the film and made a solid film.

The action part looks good- How is it justifiable for a young actor like you?

The action part is quite good in the film and it has narrated in a very sensible manner. There are people apart from me, who do action in the film and things have been kept proper with no exaggeration.

Is this film inspired by any Zombie film in English? What is it actually?

Except for the Zombies, there is no comparison with any other English film. The concept of Zombies are placed in an area like Rayalaseema and how they react to them, what all mayhem zombies create is the story. It is a proper action-comedy.

This is your proper solo release. How nervous are you?

I am very nervous and am super curious to see how the audience will lap up this film. The film’s success can change my career in a big way. I have just started out and am looking to do all sorts of films and want the audience to bless me.

Future Projects?

I am doing two films as of now. One is 95% complete and is a scientific love story that has a story by Prashanth Varma. Then, I am doing a remake of the Malayalam hit Ishq which will start soon.
