The trailers of Dikkulu Choodaku Ramayya have created quite a buzz off late. Directed by debutante Trikoti, this film has Ajay and Naga Sourya in lead roles. On the eve of the film’s release, we caught up with director Trikoti for a detailed interview. Let’s see what he has to say.
Q) How did you enter the film industry ?
I started my career as an office boy. Slowly, I learnt editing and then stared assisting director Kranti Madhav. This was also the time I met Rajamouli, and have been assisting him till date.
Q) How did you bag this project ?
Writer Giri, who used to work with EVV Satyanarayana, told me this concept. I liked it immensely and developed the story along with him. Once the final script was ready, I narrated it to Sai Korrapati who okayed it right away.
Q) What is the inspiration for this script. Have you ever come across such a situation in real life ?
Even though I have never come across such a situation, things like these have been happening in our society. I have narrated the father and son falling in love with the same girl in quite a funny way.
Q) Reports reveal that you were adamant on having Ajay as the main lead. Is it true ?
Yes ! It is true. After watching Ishq, I decided that Ajay would be apt for the role. I told this to Sai garu, and he was ok with my condition. Ajay has done a wonderful job in this film, and will be a major highlight.
Q) Indraja is making a comeback after a long time. How was it working with her ?
One of my friends suggested her name. She has an important role, and has brought a lot of depth to my film with her mature performance.
Q) Tell us about Naga Shourya’s character ?
Shourya has a challenging role in the film. He needs to save his girlfriend from his dad, and at the same time needs to take care of his depressed mom.
Q) How has the final product come out ?
Unique subjects like these need to be handled with utmost care and sincerity. Climax of the film will be a huge key, and the entire output will depend on how the end is showcased. Luckily our climax is quite convincing, and will appeal to everyone.
Q) How was it working with M M Keeravani ?
I known Keeravani and his family from quite a long time now. He has given some chart topping music, and especially his background score will be a major highlight.
Q) What kind of influence does Rajamouli have on this project ?
I have learnt a lot about film making from him, and used it in this film. He has not yet seen the film, but has seen the rushes and suggested me some changes.
Q) Tel us about the production values ?
For my first ever film, I am lucky to get a producer like Sai garu. He has given me whatever I needed and has been like a pillar of strength throughout the making.
Q) Finally, sum up this film for us ?
DCR is the answer to all those who say that Tollywood is not producing new stories or coming up with new ideas.
