varun-tej
Lanky hero Varun Tej, is one actor who has dared to try something different with his second film itself. He will be seen as Dhoopati Hari Babu in Krish’s upcoming war drama Kance. On the eve of the film’s release, we caught up with Varun for a detailed interview. Let’s see what he has to say.

Q)Your début film did not do well. How was the family’s feedback ?

I learnt a lot from that film and everyone in my family gave me their honest feedback. Chiranjeevi garu suggested me the areas to improve and also complimented me for my dances.

Q)How did you bag Kance ?

I was a huge fan of Krish right from his first film. Over the years, he promised that he will make a unique film with me and that is how Kanche happened.

Q)Tell us about your role ?

I play the character of Dhoopati Hari Babu. The film is about his journey and how he lands up fighting the world war II. It was a very challenging character and gave me a lot of scope to perform.

Q)How did you prepare for this character ?

Firstly, I had to get my accent right. I underwent coaching for the same and watched a lot of Hollywood war films to get the feel right. Also, Krish helped me and extracted decent performance.

Q)Tell us about the shooting experience for the film ?

The filming part was quite tough as we shot a number of days for the war sequence. Some real life weapons were used and everything went on well because of the superb pre-production and team work.

Q)Can you narrate any memorable experience during the shoot ?

We shot a part of the film in Georgia and only a small team from Hyderabad went there to shoot. We had to do things our self and helped each other during the make up sessions. Also, we carried the heavy war gear on our back most of the time to get the essence right.

Q)How was it working with Krish ?

Krish is a brilliant director who is always eager to learn things and his energy rubs off on others. He is a tough task master and gets what he wants by hook or crook.

Q)Loafer was supposed to be Nithin’s film. How did you bag it ?

Even I came to know about it when I was shooting for Kanche. Puri narrated me the script and asked me to do it only if I liked it. I was completely okay with the script and spoke to Nithin before saying yes. I have a unique equation with Nithin as I was also supposed to do his Heart Attack initially.

Q)How did your family react to Niharika’s decision of becoming an actress ?

This was not a sudden decision. Initially, we were reluctant because of the fan factor but ended up supporting it whole heatedly. Discussions were on from a long time and we as a family will support her in the future as well.

Q)Final words about Kanche ?

Kanche is a very hard hitting and different film from Tollywood. The story, set up and realistic visuals will be the highlight. I feel that I have a done a decent job and would be very happy if the audience appreciates my acting talent.
