Venu Thottempudi and Avanthika Mishra’s web series Athidhi is currently streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar. It was directed by Bharath and produced by Praveen Sattaru under the banner of Random Frames Entertainment. Praveen Sattaru is also the showrunner. In his recent media interaction, Venu shared the experience of acting in this web show.
How is the response so far?
It is getting a good response. Some say it’s classy, and a few say it does not have mass elements. Athidhi is a family entertainer, according to me. It has comedy, suspense, drama, and sentiment. But it has fewer horror elements, and hence, the family can watch it comfortably together.
What made you do Athidhi?
During the lockdown, I watched a number of web shows. I thought it would be good if I, too, acted in a web series. Then, the script of Athidhi came to me, and I liked the story. Director Bharath believed that I would be the right fit for Athidhi. As a new director believed in me, I thought I should support his vision.
How was the working experience?
This is the first time I am part of a horror project. It was very difficult for me to perform the character of Ravi Varma. Because he knows everything that is going to happen, but he should behave like he knows nothing. The director wanted me to give a settled performance. If my performance is good, credit should go to director Bharath.
How was it working with Praveen Sattaru?
He is a good producer and takes care of everything. We used to discuss several things. Though he didn’t come to the sets, he knew everything that was happening. Praveen Sattaru has put in a great effort for Athidhi.
Could you tell us about your future projects?
There is no need for urgency. I will take up projects that have a good storyline. I missed a few projects in my career, but I am not worrying about them. When I see some films of Nagarjuna Garu and Chiranjeevi Garu, I feel like I should have done them. Currently, I am doing a project for Chai Bisket under the direction of a debutant director. It will entertain everyone.
