Interview – Vijay Devarakonda – Bunny Vasu made me accept Geetha Govindam
Published on Aug 14, 2018 5:32 pm IST

Post the success of Arjun Reddy, Vijay Devarakonda is back with his new film Geetha Govindam. On this occasion, we caught up with the man himself for a detailed interview. Here is the transcript.

Stardom has confused me a lot

I am very lucky to have many people love me so much. I am confused by the sudden phase of stardom and am trying to be as real as possible. Things are going great and I am giving hundred percent without thinking much and being sincere in my work.

My role in Geetha Govindam is quite opposite to Arjun Reddy

My character applies for the post of a junior scientist and in the time gap, he joins as an assistant professor in a college. I am completely different to what you have seen me in Arjun Reddy. I play a class lover and shares a completely different ideology from that of the heroine.

I enjoyed the trolls for my singing

The song was recorded in just an hour and I had a blast crooning for it. As it was a fun song with no seriousness, I went ahead and sang for the film and have been facing severe backlash for it as well. But I am thoroughly enjoying all the trolls which are quite funny and creative.

Bunny Vasu changed my mind

Post Arjun Reddy, I was clear that I will not do more family films. But Bunny Vasu sat me down and explained to me as to why I should do family films. The reason for the film to shape up so well is undoubtedly Bunny Vasu. He made me understand that if I do family films once in a while, I will have a larger set of audience.

Geetha Govindam’s leaks broke my heart

Piracy has become so dangerous these days. The leaks of my film broke my heart and such things cannot put me down as I will come out even stronger. These are the new tensions that an actor like me faces apart from giving the best at shoots. I am slowly learning the tricks of the trade and will be careful to handle such situations in the future.

Future Projects?

As of now, I am shooting for Dear Comrade with Rashmika. From September, I will start Kranthi Madhav’s film which is yet another film with a different concept.
