Thalapathy Vijay starrer Varisu/Vaarasudu is one of the biggies which is set for Pongal release. Directed by Vamshi Paidipally, the movie is produced by Dil Raju. Rashmika Mandanna is playing the female lead in this film which has Thaman’s tunes. The movie also stars Jayasudha, Prakash Raj, Srikanth, Prabhu, Khusbhu, and Shaam in key roles. Ahead of the release, we interacted with Srikanth for a brief interview, and here is the transcript.

How did your journey start with Vijay’s Varisu/Vaarasudu film? How will the film be?

This is the first time I am doing a Tamil film. Director Vamshi Paidipallly narrated Vaarasudu’s plot. I will be seen as Vijay’s brother, and it is a crucial role. Vaarasudu is a perfect family entertainer with solid human emotions. The movie will be like a Telugu film as many artists like Jayasudha Garu, Rashmika, Kick Shaam, Sarath Kumar, Sangeetha, and Prabhu acted in Telugu movies earlier.

Will your role be positive or negative in the film?

The film has emotions that are common between the brothers. Vamshi Paidipally’s movies will have great emotions, and I am happy to be part of it. Vijay has a fantastic craze and hasn’t done family entertainers lately. I played a full-length role in the film. I am happy to debut in Tamil cinema with a good movie like Varisu alongside Vijay.

What is so special about Vijay?

I met him on a few occasions earlier. However, this is the first time I am working with him. Vijay will be very silent and doesn’t talk much. He doesn’t carry a mobile on the sets and works with extreme dedication till the director says to pack up.

Do you think Vaarasudu is a competitor to other Sankranthi releases?

All the films are turning out to be PAN-Indian films now. Our Telugu films are performing well in Tamilnadu. Sankranthi is known for movies, and audiences will lap up every film. Vaarasudu is a film that is meant for the Sankranthi festival.

How was your working experience with Vamshi Paidipally?

Vamshi Paidiplally is a director who has got a lot of clarity. He displays a lot of perfection in filmmaking. Vamshi doesn’t compromise on anything and makes a film with very high standards.

How was your working experience with Dil Raju?

Though I have been in the industry for so long, this is the first time I am working in Dil Raju Garu’s production. Also, I am part of Ram Charan – Shankar’s project, which Dil Raju Garu produces.

After Akhanda, you chose a different role. Will you continue to do this kind of roles?

I did this role to be different from what I have done in Akhanda. Also, I am doing Shankar – Ram Charan project. That is one more different character. So I wanted to do unique roles, and if I like the script, I am very much ready to do them.
