As audiences continue to celebrate the blockbuster success of Dhurandhar, Hrithik Roshan has unexpectedly found himself in the middle of a social media storm. The actor initially praised the film and its cast but added, “I may disagree with the politics of it, and argue about the responsibilities us filmmakers should bear as citizens of the world. Nevertheless, I can’t ignore how I loved and learnt from this one as a student of cinema.”
This remark triggered backlash. Fans of the film mocked him for bringing politics into the discussion and quickly turned his comment into an easy target.
In an effort to clarify his stance and ease the reactions, Hrithik returned to X and Instagram with a second post. This time he offered complete and unambiguous praise for Dhurandhar.
He wrote that he still cannot get the film out of his mind and called director Aditya Dhar an exceptional filmmaker. He admired Ranveer Singh’s progression from restraint to ferocity, reiterated that Akshaye Khanna has always been his favourite and said the film reaffirms it, applauded R. Madhavan for bringing “mad grace, strength and dignity.” He also highlighted the makeup and prosthetics team for their impressive work and said he is already looking forward to Part 2.
Despite this clarification, criticism continues. Many are calling his second post a sudden U turn after facing heat the previous night. How Hrithik chooses to respond to the ongoing scrutiny, or whether he responds at all, remains to be seen.
