Akshay Kumar’s Haiwaan opening sends shockwaves across the industry

Bollywood star hero Akshay Kumar has now come up with the crime thriller Haiwaan. The movie, directed by legendary filmmaker Priyadarshan, also stars Saif Ali Khan in an important role. The film struggled to create interest among moviegoers right from the beginning.

Trade estimated around Rs. 7 crores to Rs. 8 crores nett on the opening day, given Akshay Kumar’s presence. The film even struggled to cross the bare minimum expectations and ended up collecting just Rs. 3 crores nett on day one, which is disastrous, to say the least, for a star hero.

The actuals are less than half of the projections. The key reason for this level of outright rejection is the remake factor. Haiwaan is the official adaptation of the Malayalam hit Oppam, which came 10 years ago.

After such a long time, a subject loses its relevance, and that’s exactly what happened with Haiwaan. Akshay had a good start to the year, with Bhooth Bangla emerging as a superhit and Welcome To The Jungle earning decent money.

With Haiwaan, the star has now once again witnessed a downfall. Several shows of Haiwaan have already been replaced with Hanuman Ansh and Mirzapur: The Movie, which tells us the kind of disappointment the film has turned out to be. The below-par reports has only added insult to the injury.
