Published on Oct 4, 2020 10:00 am IST

Ever since the tragic demise of Sushant Singh Rajput on June 14, a section of media, netizens and even some Bollywood celebrities have been lashing out at the Hindi film industry in all possible ways. Later, the drug scandal that was unearthed during Sushant’s death probe further picturised Bollywood and all the top league stars in poor light.

In this scenario, leading Bollywood star Akshay Kumar, who recently landed in Mumbai after wrapping up Bell Bottom in the UK, took to his social media accounts and posted a sincere 4-minute long video, appealing to the media and the citizens of this country to not target entire Bollywood.

Akshay said that he is posting this video with a heavy heart, as he had so much to say about the ongoing incidents, but he was not sure what to say or how much to say and to whom to express his feelings with so much negativity everywhere.

Akshay acknowledged the drug menace in Bollywood and said that the entire Hindi film industry is being targeted while drug abuse is a harsh truth in several other industries as well.

Akshay also reminded the netizens and the media that for years, Bollywood has been propagating Indian culture and traditions and also creating awareness about social issues through movies. The 53-year-old actor’s sincere appeal is going viral on social media since last night, and it remains to be seen whether it manages to change people’s perception at least to a small extent.
