Alia Bhatt and Sharvari’s Alpha opened to mostly negative reviews from critics, but due to the franchise advantage, the film registered a good opening weekend at the box office, earning Rs. 34 crores nett. This figure might look low compared to other films in the YRF Spy Universe, but for a female-led film, it is respectable.
However, on the first Monday, the film witnessed a sharp decline. As per trade estimates, Alpha managed to earn only Rs. 3.85 crores nett yesterday, which is about a 60% drop compared to its day one collection of Rs. 9.25 crores nett.
Given the massive costs involved, Alpha needed to show strong holds during the weekdays. However, the drop on Monday signals that the film hasn’t found acceptance among audiences, making the road ahead challenging. The film also stars Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor in key roles.
