South Indian actress Samantha and Bollywood hero Varun Dhawan starred in the web show Citadel: Honey Bunny, directed by Raj and DK. It was a spinoff of the American TV series Citadel, which starred Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden in the lead roles. However, the latest and shocking news is that Amazon canceled the upcoming seasons of Samantha Starrer.
Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, told Deadline that storylines from Citadel: Honey Bunny and Citadel: Diana will be woven into the mothership series Citadel 2. Vernon Sanders also said, “While these successful and widely enjoyed international chapters will not continue as individual series, Season 2 of Citadel will be our most exhilarating yet. Citadel 2 premieres in Q2 of 2026. ”
Deadline wrote, “Amazon is not proceeding with the Citadel international offshoots Citadel: Honey Bunny and Citadel: Diana. They will not return for the second season. The cancellation of the two spinoff series is not surprising. While they have done well in their local markets, Citadel: Diana and Citadel: Honey Bunny have not been global breakouts and have been waiting for word on their fates since launching their first seasons in September and December, respectively.”
