Even after the declaration of the Tamil Nadu Assembly election results, the political situation in the state remains uncertain, with no party achieving the magic figure (118). Vijay’s TVK party fell short of the majority mark by a few seats, but since it emerged as the single-largest party, everyone expected the Governor to allow Vijay to take oath as CM.
But that did not happen, surprisingly, and since yesterday, mind-blowing rumors have been doing the rounds on the internet. Amidst this, actor-politician Kamal Haasan, who is now associated with DMK, stated that they respect the people’s verdict and will function as the opposition. He said those in constitutional positions must fulfill their duties and that Vijay should be allowed to take the oath as CM.
Not allowing TVK to form the government would amount to disrespecting and insulting the mandate of the people of Tamil Nadu, said Kamal. He also referred to the S.R. Bommai case, in which the Supreme Court stated that the majority should be proved in the Legislative Assembly and not in the Raj Bhavan.
