Anirudh Ravichander once wanted to scrap a song that eventually became one of the most popular tracks from his career. During his concert in Malaysia, the composer revealed the interesting story behind Aaluma Doluma from Vedalam.
Anirudh revealed that he was not happy with the energetic North Madras-flavoured track and felt he could come up with something better. He called director Siva and asked him not to shoot the song, promising to give him a new one.
However, when Anirudh called Siva the next day with his new idea, it was already too late. Siva told him that Ajith Kumar and the team had already heard the original song, liked it and completed the shoot. Anirudh was then left with no choice but to work on the same song he had wanted to replace.
Once Aaluma Doluma was released, Anirudh’s doubts were put to rest. Sung by Anirudh and Badshah, with lyrics by G. Rokesh, the song became a major hit and remains one of the memorable tracks from Vedalam. In the end, Anirudh himself was the biggest doubter of a song that everyone around him had already believed in.
