Just two weeks after its theatrical release, Karthi’s new film, Vaa Vaathiyaar, arrived on Prime Video. However, its Telugu version, Annagaru Vostaru, skipped the theatrical release and premiered directly on the streaming platform. The digital debut of the Telugu version drew heavy criticism from viewers. While the Tamil version showcases the glory of M. G. Ramachandran (MGR), the Telugu version is centered around the legendary N. T. Rama Rao (Sr. NTR).
The OTT platform initially released a common video for all language versions, retaining the Tamil visuals for the Telugu version as well. As a result, audiences ended up seeing MGR on screen while the dialogues referred to NTR, which significantly hampered the viewing experience. Taking note of the backlash, Prime Video has now decided to release a corrected Telugu version and made an official announcement.
The updated Telugu version, featuring NTR visuals, will start streaming from March 6. The film has already faced heavy trolling on OTT, and it remains to be seen whether this move by Prime Video can give it a fresh lease of life. The movie is directed by Nalan Kumarasamy, with Krithi Shetty playing the female lead.
