Looks like it’s not been a good start to the year for Thalapathy Vijay fans. His last film, Jana Nayagan, was expected to release on January 9, 2026. But because of legal issues, the release is now uncertain, and there’s no clear update on when it will come out.
After that, there was some hope with Theri. The film, produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu under the V Creations banner, was planned for a Sankranti re-release on January 15, 2026. Later, it was pushed to January 23, 2026, due to other Sankranti releases. Even then, fans were fine with it, since they would at least get to watch a Vijay film in theatres again.
But that didn’t last either. Theri has now been postponed once more. This happened after the makers of Hotspot 2 and Draupathi 2 requested the producer to move the release, as their films are coming out at the same time. Thanu agreed to their request and postponed the re-release.
With Jana Nayagan still unclear and Theri delayed again, Vijay fans are left waiting, with no film to watch in theatres for now.
