Ever since Bollywood star Akshay Kumar tried to clear the air about his citizenship, things haven’t worked out well for the actor. He confessed that he indeed has a Canada passport; however, he loves India and works, pays his taxes in the country. In an open statement, Akshay Kumar also added that he doesn’t have to prove his love for the country to anyone.

However, the actor has been facing severe criticism for various reasons. While some pointed out that he has been lecturing about nationalism through his films and TV commercials, the actor himself isn’t an Indian citizen. In another instance, some argued that him winning a National award for his performance in Rustom isn’t justified in the wake of his latest confession that he is a Canadian national.

Amidst all this, another veteran actor, Anupam Kher has come out in support of Akshay Kumar. The actor urged Akshay to not explain to anyone about his love for the country since some people will make them feel defensive every time they speak about it. He also reminded Akshay Kumar that he’s a doer and he doesn’t have to respond any further to this controversy about his citizenship.
