Anurag Kashyap’s Controversy: Director apologizes for Brahmin remarks amid backlash and threats

Bollywood director Anurag Kashyap, known for his talent and frequent controversies, is once again in the headlines – this time for making controversial remarks about the Brahmin community that sparked outrage and forced him to apologize publicly.

The controversy began when Kashyap spoke about Phule, a film based on social reformers Jyotiba and Savitribai Phule. He claimed that the movie has been facing continuous delays due to objections from the CBFC, citing alleged misrepresentation of Brahmins in the narrative.

Ventilating his frustration on social media, Kashyap responded to a troll with a vulgar comment: “I will ur**ate on Brahmins… any problem?” The remark quickly drew widespread backlash, with many demanding an apology. Disturbingly, the situation escalated to the point where his family received rape and death threats.

Following the uproar, Kashyap took to Instagram to issue an apology. In a heartfelt note, he acknowledged that he lost control in anger and unintentionally offended an entire community. He wrote that his reaction shifted focus from the real issue and hurt many, including his friends, family, and intellectuals he respects. He promised to work on his anger and be more careful with his words in the future.

Though the apology has been made, the situation remains tense, and it is yet to be seen how the public and those offended by his comments will respond moving forward.
