Oscar winning music composer AR Rahman wished his guru and legendary music director Maestro Ilayaraja on his feat of completing 1000 films as a music director. Rahman took to his Twitter and tweeted, “Dear Maestro Ilayaraja, thank u fr composing quality music fr 1000 movies n inspiring us. May u do many more. Best wishes fm all of us @ KM”.
During the recent Pongal season, Ilayaraja’s 1000th film directed by Bala, Tharai Thappatai, released and had a fairly decent run. It is well known that Rahman assisted Ilayaraja before he ventured into Tamil films and ad jingles on his own.
Even though there were several reports of differences between the iconic musical duo, both Ilayaraja and Rahman always maintained a cordial relationship.
