James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash is set to hit big screens worldwide tomorrow. The first two films in the Avatar franchise, Avatar and Avatar: The Way of Water are among the top five highest-grossing films of all time, each earning over $2 billion globally.
According to trade estimates, Avatar: Fire and Ash is expected to collect around $90–105 million in North America during its opening weekend. Overseas markets are projected to contribute $250–275 million, taking the film’s global opening weekend estimates to approximately $340–365 million.
While these figures suggest a lower opening compared to Avatar: The Way of Water, the second installment surprised everyone with its exceptional long run. Hence, predicting the third film’s lifetime box office based solely on its first weekend numbers remains a tough call.
