SS Rajamouli, the legendary Tollywood filmmaker who took Telugu cinema to the global stage with Baahubali, continues to expand the franchise in exciting ways. After presenting Baahubali The Epic as a combined cinematic experience, the makers surprised fans with Baahubali The Eternal War, a 3D animated saga set in a completely new mythological realm with a fresh narrative and a different director at the helm. Now, the project has grabbed attention once again for a major milestone.

The film has been officially selected for the Work in Progress showcase at the Annecy International Animation Festival 2026 in France. Widely regarded as the Cannes of animation, the prestigious event has picked Baahubali as a key representation of India’s evolving storytelling on a global platform. This also means that top international critics are getting their first glimpse of the film’s visuals.

Unlike the earlier films, this story explores the afterlife following the death of Amarendra Baahubali, where he is drawn into a cosmic battle between the Devas and the Asuras. Spanning 14 mystical realms, the narrative blends Indian mythology with high fantasy elements on a grand scale.

Adding to the excitement, Prabhas and Ramya Krishna return to voice their iconic characters, while MM Keeravaani composes the music for this ambitious project. Directed by Ishan Shukla, the film features a highly detailed 3D animation style comparable to global standards.

Backed by Arka Media Works with a reported budget of Rs. 120 crore, this is one of India’s most ambitious animated films to date. With international collaboration ensuring top tier quality, Part 1 is currently scheduled for release in 2027.
