The more than 5,000-year-old epic Ramayana is being retold on the big screen with Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. Apart from the two-part film, the makers have bigger plans to take the story to audiences in different ways.
Their plans include AAA video games, apparel and lifestyle merchandise, along with VR, AR and metaverse experiences. They are also planning theme park rides across the world, a Broadway musical and spin-off projects in comics, television and animation. These projects will explore characters like Hanuman, Surpanakha, Jatayu, Indrajit and Angad.
The film is also using DNEG’s proprietary ‘Brahma AI’ system to create performances in multiple languages without the usual dubbing or subtitles. A demo was shown at the Telugu pre-release event, and it impressed many of those who watched it.
Nitesh Tiwari is directing the big-budget film, produced by Namit Malhotra and Yash. Sunny Deol, Arun Govil, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh and others play key roles. Ramayana is set to release in cinemas worldwide on November 5, 2026, in multiple languages and formats.
