The latest breaking news is that the 9 AM shows of Suriya’s Karuppu have been cancelled everywhere due to financial hurdles. Reportedly, the makers sourced funds from financiers for their previous ventures, and since the dues were not settled on time, the morning shows have been removed across regions, including Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Since yesterday, bookings have been kept on hold in Tamil Nadu by theatre chains. In the wee hours of the day, producer S. R. Prabhu announced that there would be no 9 AM shows for the film and apologized to audiences for the inconvenience caused.
Suriya fans are frustrated and heartbroken with the way things have been handled. Due to financial constraints, the film’s overseas release has also landed in huge trouble. The makers had scheduled only a limited number of premiere shows in the USA, and now those too have been cancelled.
Not just the premiere shows, but screenings for the rest of the weekend are also getting disabled in this territory, making the release almost uncertain. Karuppu’s fate now entirely depends on the clearances of dues. Keep watching this space for more updates.
