Sivakarthikeyan’s Pongal release Ayalaan clashed with Dhanush’s Captain Miller, resulting in a slow start at the box office. Despite the not-so-encouraging start, the film held its own with the help of a family audience. The Telugu version was also planned for a simultaneous release along with the Tamil version. Sivakarthikeyan and the film’s crew promoted the movie aggressively in Hyderabad, but the Telugu release didn’t happen due to multiple reasons.

The Tamil version made its OTT debut on February 9 on Sun NXT, but till now, there has been no trace of the Telugu release. As per the latest buzz, the Telugu version will be released on Sun NXT on April 19. Though this is not confirmed yet, it has gone viral all over.

R. Ravi Kumar of Indru Netru Nalai fame directed this sci-fi film. Rakul Preet Singh played the female lead. Kotapadi J Rajesh bankrolled Ayalaan under the banner of KJR Studios. Sharad Kelkar, Isha Koppikar, Bhanu Priya, and Yogi Babu played other prominent roles. AR Rahman composed the tunes.
