Back in 2017, Mahesh Babu debuted in Tamil cinema with AR Murugadoss’ directorial Spyder. The movie had humongous expectations, but sadly it tanked at the box office. Rowdy Boy Vijay Deverakonda, with the film NOTA, made his debut in Tamil, but it, too, didn’t make any noise at the box office. This political film was helmed by Tamil director Anand Shankar.
Recently Ram Pothineni too entered Kollywood with the Telugu-Tamil bilingual film The Warriorr, which also failed miserably. N. Linguswamy directed this project. Now Yuva Samrat Naga Chaitanya is all set to make his Tamil debut with Custody which was directed by Venkat Prabhu.
All the above-mentioned films are helmed by Tamil directors. Now the question is can Naga Chaitanya succeed with his first straight Tamil where his peers couldn’t? We shall wait and see. Fans are saying Naga Chaitanya chose the right director for his Tamil debut. Custody releases on 12th May in Telugu and Tamil.
