The title for Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi’s ambitious coastal drama was announced on Chay’s birthday a couple of days ago. Titled Thandel, the film will have Chay playing a fisherman from Srikakulam who gets entangled in a major conflict in the sea waters in the Gujarat coast.

In a latest interview, Thandel director Chandoo Mondeti revealed the meaning behind the title. He said that Thandel means boat operator in Gujarati and that the word Thandel was extensively used in the past at hamlets on the Gujarat-Pakistan border.

Chandoo went on to reveal that Chay has been working hard for his role for the past 6 months. “Chay visited the Matsyalesam village in Srikakulam and interacted with the local fishermen to observe their body language. He also took part in a few workshops to master the Srikakulam dialect and body language of a fisherman. Apart from growing his hair and beard, Chay has also been hitting the gym to bulk up his body,” the director revealed.

Chandoo Mondeti also revealed that Thandel will feature an emotional love story between Chay and Sai Pallavi. Produced by Bunny Vas on GA2 Movies banner, Thandel will feature a soundtrack composed by Devi Sri Prasad.
