Veteran actress Roja is not known to mince words. She speaks freely and without inhibitions. In a very candid interview given to Sakshi paper, Roja revealed some interesting facts about her career and political life.
“I never wanted to be an actress. My dad used to work in Saradhi Studios as a sound engineer. Premathapassu director Sivaprasad saw my photo in a college album and wanted me to act. He approached my dad, who was his friend, and requested him to convince me. I faced some bitter experiences during the making of that film. I do not want to elaborate now. But those experiences motivated me to prove myself as an actress”, she said.
When asked about her frequent attacks on Chiranjeevi, Roja said “Chiranjeevi is a sensitive person. When I was an actress, I had very good relations with him and I was like a family member . His wife, Mrs. Sureskha, once remarked that after Sridevi and Radha, I was the only actress who could match his dance. But things changed once we entered politics. Because we belong to different parties, I say certain things. He seems to have taken them to heart. Nowadays, when we cross each other’s path in functions or events, he just frowns and moves on with a serious expression”, she said.
