Last night, the pre-release event of Brahmanandam and Raja Gowtham’s Brahma Anandam was held in Hyderabad. Megastar Chiranjeevi is the chief guest, and during the event, Chiru made a controversial statement, which is now receiving huge backlash on social media.
Chiranjeevi said, “While I am at home, it feels like I am a ladies’ hostel warden. I am surrounded by granddaughters all around. I keep telling Charan to give birth to a boy so that our legacy continues. Charan loves his daughter, and I am afraid he will have a daughter again.”
Social media is flooded with comments stating that Chiranjeevi’s statement is misogynistic and sexist in nature. Some are trolling the Telugu star actor, saying that daughters are equally capable as sons in carrying forward the family’s legacy.
A netizen wrote, “It’s disheartening to see someone of Chiranjeevi’s stature perpetuate outdated gender biases. The obsession with a male heir is a reflection of societal mindset that needs immediate change. Chiranjeevi is sending a wrong message.”
Whether or not Chiranjeevi will issue clarification remains to be seen. On the professional front, Chiru will be next seen in the fantasy action drama Vishwambhara, which is being directed by Vasishta.
