Listening to or reading about the life journey of a few great personalities would always inspire us. An ordinary man who rose to fame by earning a place in the audience’s hearts, the one who is termed Peddarayudu, Nataprapoorna, Collection King, Dialogue King, Manchu Bakthavachalam Naidu alias Mohan Babu has completed 47 glorious years in the film industry. He played the roles of character artist, villain, hero, and everything and pleased the audience all the way.

Born in Modhugulapalem village of Chittoor district, he did his primary education in Yerpedu and Tirupathi. Mohan Babu, fascinated by stage plays, developed an interest in acting. To pursue his passion, he left for Madras. He joined as a physical trainee in Y.M.C.A college for a few days. But his desire for acting made him work relentlessly towards achieving it. In this process, he worked under the director Lakshmi Deepak. For the film Swargam-Narakam, directed by Dasari Narayana Rao, auditions were conducted in which Mohan Babu caught the director’s interest and thus got a chance.

Mohan Babu, who got introduced by Dasari through Swargam-Narakam, went on to act in over 573 movies and evolved as a complete actor. His movies created a rage at the box office. Films like Assembly Rowdy, Rowdy Gaari Pellam, and Alludu Garu help him grow as an actor. With the films Allari Mogudu, Bramha, and Major Chandrakanth, he has become a star actor. Peddarayudu stood as an industry hit. Sree Ramulayya and Adavilo Anna showed the other dimension of Mohan Babu as an actor.

Also, the actor delivered a few message-oriented films. He established the Sri Lakshmi Prasanna Pictures banner and became a successful producer by bankrolling more than 72 movies. He also opened an educational institution named Sri Vidyaniketan and is providing education at a low cost to students. For his stupendous contributions to the film industry, the central government bestowed him with Padmashri in 2007. He also received many awards across various categories, such as Filmfare, press, and also from other cultural organizations.

Apart from Nataprapoorna, Dialogue King, and Collection King, he is also named “Actor of the millennium.” Also, Mohan Babu received a Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award. Also, he bagged Natavachaspathi, and Swarnakanakam awards in 2015 and 2016, respectively. By November 24, 2022, the legendary actor had completed 47 years in the cine industry. With the encouragement of Sr. NTR, Mohan Babu also served the Rajya Sabha from 1995 to 2001.

Mohan Babu, who loves films and artists immensely, continues to produce films under his banner and plays the protagonist and other vital roles. So let’s wish the legend would act in more movies and continue entertaining us.
