Ever since Anushka made a superb comeback, after a brief lull, in Mirchi, she has been in news for signing two back to back high profile projects. Both her upcoming films – Baahubali and Rudhramadevi 3D are in different stages of production. Recently, there were rumours that she has been approached for yet another film titled Bhagmati; however, the makers have a different story to tell.
Till recently, rumours were rife that Bhagmati is going to be a period drama set in the 16th century and it revolves around Quli Qutub Shah and Bhagmati, the woman he fell in love with. What’s more interesting is that, during the audio launch and the promotions of her recent film, Varna, Anushka had stated that she was in mood for some romantic or family dramas and also added that she doesn’t feel like holding the sword in films for quite sometime. So, it came as a big surprise that she had agreed to do another period film post her current projects.
However, Ashok, who’s going to direct the film, clarified that Bhagmati is not a period film. The latest buzz is that it’s a social drama set in modern times and that it has nothing to do with the original story of Quli Qutub Shah and Bhagmati. The confusion over the film will probably continue to prevail until an official announcement is made. Vamsi and Pramod, who had earlier produced Mirchi, are going to produce this film as well and it’ll go on floors in early 2014.
