On the occasion of Sourav Ganguly’s birthday, the makers officially unveiled the title, first look, and release date of his much-awaited biopic, Dada, with Rajkummar Rao stepping into the shoes of the cricketing legend.
While the announcement itself generated excitement, it was the first look poster that stole the spotlight. Rajkummar Rao recreates Sourav Ganguly’s iconic shirtless celebration at the historic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London after India’s thrilling two wicket victory over England in the NatWest Series final on July 13, 2002.
The unforgettable moment, when Ganguly waved his jersey from the Lord’s pavilion balcony, remains one of the most iconic images in Indian cricket history, and the poster recreates it with remarkable accuracy.
Directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, Dada is produced by Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg, presented by Gulshan Kumar, Bhushan Kumar, T Series, and DBL Entertainment, and backed by Luv Films. The biopic is slated for a multilingual release, including Telugu, on May 14, 2027.
