Lokesh Kanagaraj’s debut film as a lead actor, DC, is a mixed bag commercially. The movie is posting solid numbers globally, but the performance in Tamil Nadu is way below the mark.

Till Sunday, the domestic market was just a little over the Telugu states, but on Monday, the tracked gross in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana (Rs. 1.8 crores) is higher than that of the Tamil Nadu gross (Rs. 1.7 crores). On the other hand, Kerala and overseas markets are also registering superb collections.

The sharp contrast in performance among different territories has come as a surprise even for trade pundits. This week, Suriya’s Vishawanath and Sons is arriving, and it remains to be seen how DC fares from here on in Tamil Nadu.
