Vijay’s final film, Jana Nayagan, hit theatres in three languages and opened to mixed-to-poor reviews from both critics and audiences. Directed by H. Vinoth, the film received a lukewarm response, but that hasn’t stopped fans from turning up in large numbers.
Despite the underwhelming word-of-mouth, Jana Nayagan registered impressive ticket sales on BookMyShow. The Tamil version alone sold over 562,000 tickets for day 1. While the numbers are lower than those of recent biggies like Coolie and Karuppu, achieving this despite delays, leaks, and mixed reviews is noteworthy.
The Telugu version also recorded encouraging numbers, with over 48,000 tickets sold for the opening day, while the Hindi version crossed 26,000 tickets. Hourly ticket sales remain steady across all three versions, raising expectations for a solid opening-day gross. All eyes are now on the official Day 1 box office figures.
The film also stars Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, and Prakash Raj in key roles. Produced by KVN Productions, Jana Nayagan features music composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
